Godzilla Reveiw

wolfrattle:

I went to the local dollar theater to see Godzilla last night and now I am going to type about it.

Plus side:

Godzilla looks amazing his movements and actions are down right perfect.

Every scene with the king is worth the money.

Ken Watanabe and Bryan Cranston are great, the movie could have…

Movie Tuesday: I just saw Godzilla at the cheap theaters too

Lucky that your cheap theaters pulled it too soon. I’ve known for a bit it was too late to see in the regular theaters but it didn’t get there until this week.

Godzilla was easily the best part of the movie, which I guess is the point. I am pretty anti CG or maybe bad CG, which is 90% of the time it’s used. The CG works in this movie. Sure it doesn’t 100% blend with the people. Sometime it almost plays as a background but overall that isn’t really a problem. I believe what they are doing is really happening and it’s so bad ass. Screw San Fransisco! I want these monster to give us what we paid for and they do.

Kind of wished for better reactions from the civilians. That’s the worst part about CG is folks don’t know what they’re reacting to so sometimes it doesn’t come off appropriately.

SPOILER time

Yeah, Ken Watanabe was great and I’m actually happy they got a Japanese actor significantly involved in the film but this was Cranston’s film. He had the story of losing his wife to something no one believed him about. Cranston was the crazy guy that was right the whole time and had information the navy nor Watanabe had and could’ve help make the film more fluid. Ken’s delivery was great but after a bit his philosophy spieling just seemed to be pointless. The humans only intervention really was the nuclear bomb plan and Watanabe didn’t have much do with that. Wish Ken’s crew had some way to be the one’s responsible for calling Zilla but Godzilla just showed cause he hates Mutohs.

Cranston had me so invested in the film and that was without Godzilla. With his death dropped a lot of my investment and no one quite picked it up until Godzilla started fighting like the boss he is but it kind of felt like a bit between the two.

Godzilla winning in the end and waddling off to everyone’s appreciation was great and almost reminded me of the end of Season 1 for Dexter. Godzilla is recognized as a threat but seen for the contribution he gave to society that day. Actually really made me happy they attacked Godzilla when he first approached San Fran so not to think the situation was black and white by any means.

Totally agree about the generic soldier guy. Coming out of this movie my statement pretty much is ‘Godzilla’s humans sucked but boy was Godzilla godly!’ The dude was no comparison to Cranston or Watanabe and maybe that’s not fair since they’re such established actors but he almost existed just for the ride. Not as bad as Mark Whalberg in Transformers 4 but I really had no reason to care for him. He really contribute nothing besides being a bomb expert. Sure he had a family but we the audience barely knew much about them. Almost wish he could’ve been the one to disarm the bomb in the end so he could’ve served the story rightfully so and we didn’t have to deal with the ridiculous Dark Knight Rises nuclear bomb survival (yeah, he controlled the bomb by remote, whatever).

It would’ve been corny but it would’ve been neat had soldier guy found something in Godzilla that made him think of his father. Not actually connect the two but let the soldier guy find something himself. He seemed to be over his parent pretty easily, which is understandable in a chaotic situation but I was begging for the dude to have some character.

I did get that feeling too. Almost like Cloverfield but not as bad, which I mean they turn the camera away evertime the Kaiju(which I think is what WR was going for) was in sight. Kind of felt like the King Kong ride at Universal Studios. The solders had a mission and if we got to see some fight, cool for us. The fights could’ve been flushed out more but for what we got it was pretty stellar. There were a few moments I had to refrain myself from making drunken cheers as one would do when their sports team scored in a dire time.

The Mutos were somewhat generic but I like their background and design. The monsters reminded me of the Cloverfield design. Think it worked. The point was to put Godzilla across as the King and it did.

Really like the fakeout with the monsters. It seemed that the first monster to be introduced should’ve been Godzilla but after seeing what the monster that attacked Janjira did to Cranston, it started coming off as very unlikeable. Then I was even more confused as the thing they were all staring at didn’t look anything like Godzilla. The beginning being the development of the Mutos instead of Godzilla was a good twist for me.

Would certainly recommend too and would watch just for the Godzilla scenes. Just come away thinking it was a huge mistake not keeping Cranston’s character around a bit more so the humans aren’t so terribly bland in the last 60% of the film.

3.8/5 or a B(maybe B+)

The 80’s classic film “Purple Rain” arrived in theaters on this day in 1984. Happy 30th anniversary to this iconic film!!

Music Monday: One of my favorite musician movies showing the vibrant culture of Minneapolis and lake Minnetonka

It was odd they referred to Prince as Kid. Guess it would’ve been a little too self absorbent to go about as Prince. Basically when I referred to his character it’s what I called him.

The parent situation was a bit surprising since I didn’t really think of such a sad situation. It almost hit at home a bit but seeing Prince use music as his release was a bit inspiring. Actually was cool of him to show what the streets of Minneapolis looked like although many believe Minnesota is just a step below the antarctic still.

Despite what Morris may make the streets appear as Minneapolis doesn’t have as many hussies in dumpster as he may have made it seem. Morris played a great antagonist that Kid with the help of the Kid and the Revolution had to overcome but when they did it felt as though Doves were crying.

Game of Thrones/Disney Princess Crossover

Television Tuesday: The only one I disagree with is Ariel and Melisandra

Ariel isn’t going any witchcraft to get to the throne. That’s Ursula’s job. Though Melisandra does travel by the sea much.

Actually I’m not sure who Cersei’s Disney counterpart is but the way she scrunches her face up is perfect. I feel like Lena Headey must go through so much stress with the way she scrunches it. Like she’ll never be happy again until someone finds a way for her to stop flexing it.

Ygritte and Brave chick are perfect. You know redheads who like fighting proudly with an arrow to impress their barbaric father. Pretty sure Ygritte’s mother would be just as stubborn as Brave chick if she didn’t pass or get eaten or something.

Welcome back Brandon Roy

Sports Saturday: Wolves should’ve let Brandon Roy stay retired
I was excited too that he would choose the Wolves of all teams to come back for but should’ve been skeptic and was since Minnesota never gets anything nice. There should’ve at least been some suspicion since he was retired. Guess better grab at a chance that could excel the team than the let it go and stay stagnantly low forever.
Should’ve known with the bad legs that this wouldn’t have been good.

[ZERO1 News] It has been announced that Masato Tanaka will be out of action for the rest of June, as has he was forced to undergo an emergency surgery on his eye.The recuperation time is only expected to be a couple weeks as he stated that he will make the GHC Tag defense in early July in Noah and then compete in Zero1’s Fire Festival later on that month.Tanaka thanks the fans for the support.

Pro Wrestling Thursday: Sucks to see the Dangam Yankees halt their momentum
They’ve been ridiculously unstoppable since the NOAH tag series taking both the GHC and Zero1 tag championship. Hopefully the two come back just as hard and entertaining and Sugiura can keep the Yankee attitude up in the meantime.
